urbs parvula, in tribu Iuda, quae sola ex quinque urbibus Pentapoleos, precibus Loth, de incendio servata est. Apud eam gignitur balsamum, et poma palmarum, antiquae ubertatis indicia. A Iericho supra 15. mill. pass. in Metid. distat. ponta sub monte Engaddi, non procul a lacu Asphaltite seu mari Mortuo.
